Ranger ‘Read & Learn’ Focuses On Winter Solstice Dec. 21

NMHS News:

In a partnership with the Martha Liebert Public Library in Bernalillo, Coronado Historic Site offers a “Ranger Read and Learn” story time that is free and open to all ages, 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at Martha Liebert Public Library at 124 Calle Malinche in Bernalillo.

At Ranger Read and Learn, a ranger from Coronado Historic Site will read a story and offer related conversation and activities. Children can listen to the book The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper, to learn more about the winter solstice.

The ranger will then lead a solstice-inspired craft activity.

It wasn’t enough for me to stare in awe and drink in the beauty of Claude Monet’s ravishing paintings of water lilies in Paris’ wonderful Musee de l’Orangerie – which by the way, is a must visit attraction for art lovers in the City of Lights. SaxAtomix To Perform Noon Wednesday At Fuller Lodge

The SaxAtomix will perform Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Fuller Lodge as a part of the Los Alamos Arts Council Daytime Performance Series.

The concert will start at noon and admission is free. The program will feature both Holiday and other pieces in a variety of styles. 

The SaxAtomix are an amateur saxophone quintet comprised of players from the Los Alamos community, performing together since 2017. 

The quintet includes Bryan Fearey, Wendy Keffeler, Adolfo Meana, Joyce Guzik and Paul Lewis.

Daily Postcard: Busy little birds, these Golden-Crowned Kinglets seldom stop moving. This frantic behavior makes them a prize for birders and photographers, especially to get a glimpse of the golden center stripe on their heads. When agitated, these birds can flare their crowns to reveal fiery red feathers hidden beneath this golden stripe. Golden-Crowned Kinglets are found in Los Alamos all year long.
