Engineering staff at the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) just learned that the fresh paint on the Barranca water tank put it in the running for Tank of the Year!
With enough local community votes, it just might be featured in a calendar.

Los Alamos Choirs & NJROTC Pumpkin Patch Is Open!
More than 2,700 pumpkins are available to the community starting today in the field near the Canyon Complex. The Los Alamos Choirs & NJROTC are partnering on this Pumpkin Patch fundraising event and will split the proceeds to help pay for competitions and trips, such as taking the choirs to New York to sing at Carnegie Hall or the NJROTC cadets to San Diego to see the Navy firsthand. High Desert Winds Santa Fe Presents ‘Inspirations!’ Nov. 3
The High Desert Winds Santa Fe (HDWSF) presents its first concert of the season, “Inspirations!” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at St. Francis Auditorium in the New Mexico Museum of Art, 107 Palace Ave. in Santa Fe.
Under the baton of HDWSF founder Kurt Carr, the performance will feature the music of contemporary wind ensemble composers from the mid 20th century to today.
The HDWSF will present the world premiere of “Weight of an Infinite Sky”, a 2023 composition by band member Andrew Zinkham.
Admission is free with donations gratefully accepted.

That citizen-science project makes a global snapshot of biodiversity, adding to the millions of observations in Cornell’s eBird ornithology database. Twenty-three birders in Los Alamos found at least 61 species Saturday, with reports still rolling in. Worldwide, 39,383 birders found 7,610 species in one day.
