Free Access To eBooks Via New Mexico State Library

NMDCA News:

SANTA FE — New Mexicans have access to free eBooks, audio books, and subscriptions to The New York Times courtesy of the New Mexico State Library. These resources can be accessed through the State Library’s website, nmstatelibrary.org.

Thousands of titles can be accessed for eBooks and audio books through The Palace Project, an app for downloading books. The New York Times subscription provides free use of the News, Cooking and Games sections of the newspaper.

The 4th of July is this Thursday and Los Alamos County is ready for the event! The 4th of July Spectacular will be held 4-10 p.m. at Overlook Park in White Rock.

The day of entertainment begins at 4 p.m. with the Los Alamos Community Winds, who have been a staple of the 4th of July and feature many of the area’s best classically trained musicians. Then, the  afternoon gets going with music from DJ Optamystic.

Day Camp Comes To Bethlehem Church July 29-Aug. 2

A fun week of Day Camp is coming to Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church July 29 to Aug. 2, 2024. Day Camp involves five days of Christian Day Camping for youth in grades Pre-K through 6 th grade (in the fall).

The Day Camp runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, except Friday, which runs 9-10:30 a.m. The cost for the week is only $50 for the first child and $25 for each additional child in the family, and this covers all activities, snacks, supplies, etc. Campers need to bring their own sack lunch on Monday through Thursday. Several concerned community members attended the Art in Public Places Advisory Board (APPAB) meeting Thursday night to support the County’s acquisition of The Boys of the Pajarito Plateau, a painting by renowned artist Jeff Segler depicting three young men on horseback during the Los Alamos Ranch School (LARSO) era.

Mr. Segler, formerly of Los Alamos, was also in attendance. Six of us spoke during public comment urging the APPAB to vote to advise the County Council to purchase the painting.
