Mama Bear And Cubs Feast On Fresh Chickens

‘After being awoken at about 5 a.m. today by commotion around a neighbor’s hen house in North Community, we found this mama bear and her cubs feasting on fresh chickens in the very dim light of dawn. Bears have a sense of smell about as good as the light sensitivity of modern cameras, so the cubs and mama were onto me as soon as I stepped outside in my skivvies to snap two frames in near darkness. Seconds later, the trio was gone.’ Photo by James Rickman
