Daily Postcard: An adult male Mexican wolf in brushy landscape March 13 at Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge about 20 miles north of Socorro (this one was not spotted at the Valles Caldera National Preserve). A female Mexican wolf was spotted howver, roaming around the Valles Caldera for about a month last November. Once common throughout parts of the Southwestern U.S. and Mexico, the Mexican wolf was all but eliminated from the wild by the 1970s due to conflicts with livestock. SANTA FE — Santa Fe Pro Musica’s popular String Quartet Series concludes at 3 p.m. April 14 with the French ensemble Quatuor Ébène performing music by Mozart, Alfred Schnittke, and Grieg.
Quatuor Ébène is named after the wood “ebony,” a component of string instruments that “resists time and is a symbol of exotic cultures” (former cellist Raphael Merlin).

Los Alamos County Community Services invites the public to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Lindsay Brenner artwork at the Los Alamos County Airport. This event is 1-2 p.m. Friday, March 29 at the airport.
In pursuit of enhancing the airport environment, the Art in Public Places (APP) Board launched a Call for Art in November 2021. This initiative sought artworks that not only added aesthetic value but also contributed to sound management within the Los Alamos County Airport.
