Members of the Los Alamos High School (LAHS) Olions were recently adjudicated and have been recognized as State Finalists for their work and performances in the LAHS Olions’ Spring ’23 show, Pippin.
They will perform and compete in the largest celebration of high school theatre in the state, the Enchantment Awards, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 28 in Popejoy Hall on the UNM campus.

Longtime Santa Fe Youth Music Nonprofit Readies For Fiery Spring Performance April 29-30

SANTA FE — More than 250 students in 16 ensembles are perfecting their Spring Concert music pieces.
Each group is taking the “We’re on Fire!” theme into a different direction. For example, the Jazz program focuses on Cuban music, the Intermezzo group is putting on “Suite for a Pestered Dragon,” and the Prelude orchestra’s pieces have been voted on and chosen by the students (which got them fired up)! There are pieces that are crowd favorites to get the audience going, and those that make you want to dance in your seat.

The Los Alamos Public Schools has launched the Piñon and Chamisa Elementary Schools Photo Contest. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2023.
LAPS has been in the design phase for rebuilding both Piñon and Chamisa Elementary schools in White Rock. They are scheduled to break ground at Piñon Elementary in late June. The new schools will both feature photographs from the area. Photographs for the schools will be selected from submissions by local residents (students and adults).

SALA Event Center is hosting the world premiere of award-winning documentarian Larry Sheffield’s newest film, “Oppenheimer After Trinity”.
The documentary will be shown at 7:15 p.m. April 22, which is J. Robert Oppenheimer’s birthday, and again at 3 p.m. April 23. Sheffield will attend the screenings.

Conservation Kits Available At Los Alamos County Libraries
The Los Alamos Public Library System and the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) are partnering to bring hands-on conservation tools to the community through the new Library of Things.

Piano concerts are a common occurrence and certainly having two pianists share the stage is not unusual. But what about two pianists sharing one piano? Now that is something new.
Santa Fe musician Natasha Stojanovska’s and featured artist Heejin An’s concert at noon April 28 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe will showcase works by Brahms, Bach, Liszt and others using one piano and four hands.
