Santa Fe Opera Announces 42 Members Of The 2019 Season Apprentice Program For Singers

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe Opera announces the members of its 2019 Season Apprentice Program for Singers.
 
This season’s program is comprised of singers from across the United States, Canada and South Korea. The 42 singers, selected by Gayletha Nichols, Director of the Program, and Robert Tweten, Head of Music Staff, rose to the top from a pool of more than 1,000 applicants through a competitive pre-screening and audition process.

Mission Street Arts Launches Jemez Springs Newest Artist-In-Residence Program Saturday May 25

Jemez Springs’s newest artist-in-residence and community outreach program is hosting a launch event at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25 at the Jemez Springs Public Library.
 
The location of the program is a property Mike Murphy left to his daughters at his death in 2014. He started Mission Street Arts as a studio and gallery space.
 
Mission Street Arts is now owned and operated by Devin Williams and Eva Murphy, and managed by artist Billy Ehret. They are furthering his vision and enthusiasm for many many artistic disciplines.

Natasha Stojanovska Solo Piano Recital Friday

MUSIC News:

Sage Concert Series will hold its next event at 7 p.m. Friday, May 24 at the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos at 1738 N. Sage St.

Natasha Stojanovska, solo pianist, will again present a concert, playing selections of Eastern European piano music seldom heard in the States.

Stojanovska’s first UCLA Concert was a huge success with an overflow audience.

Author aj Melnick missed the signing Saturday for her book, ‘They Changed the World: People of the Manhattan Project’, due to illness. Pajarito Press publishers Nancy Bartlit and Mark Rayburn were on hand however, signing books at the Bradbury Science  Museum. They will transport books to Santa Fe so Melnick can sign them, then return them for pickup at the Bradbury. Hopefully, the book signing can be rescheduled at a future date. This shot of the Full Flower Blue Moon was taken about 3:40 a.m. Saturday in White Rock. A Blue Moon rarely appears blue in the sky, and the name actually has little to do with its color.
