Choral Society/Symphony Orchestra In Concert Sunday

MUSIC News:

Join LACS/LASO at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 at Duane Smith Auditorium for a classical music concert lasting about an hour.

The concert will include two short pieces, “Ave Verum Corpus,” a lovely lament sung in Latin created by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1791, and “The Promise of Living,” from the opera The Tender Land, music by Aaron Copland, libretto by Horace Everett, which tells a story of farm life in the Midwest.

The third piece will be Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, composed in the early 1800s. One does not need to know Latin to understand the elegant grace conveyed by the music. Read More
