The 31st Annual Festival of the Cranes gets underway Wednesday, Nov. 14 and includes more than 140 events, drawing photographers, birders and wildlife enthusiasts from around the country to celebrate the return of the Sandhill Cranes to their winter home. To get to the refuge, drive south on I-25 past Socorro to exit 139 (San Antonio), go east 0.25 miles on US 380 to the flashing signal at the village of San Antonio, turn right onto Old Highway 1, and drive south nine miles to the Visitor Center on the right. Los Alamos Arts Council sponsors and produces the 2018 Northern New Mexico Arts Fair, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Nov. 17 at the Los Alamos Middle School, 2101 Hawk Dr.

Artists from around New Mexico and some from out-of-state will present their art and handy work for the early holiday shopping enjoyment of the public. Art works range in price from $5 to $1,000.

Film Office: ‘Greenbrier’ To Film In New Mexico

SANTA FE New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced Tuesday that the feature “Greenbrier,” produced by Sony Studios will begin principal photography mid-November through early February 2019 in Albuquerque.
 
“We are happy to welcome ‘Greenbrier’ and Sony Studios to New Mexico,” Maniatis said. “For years we’ve built up the film industry in New Mexico and strengthened our film incentives, now we’re seeing success after success for the film industry in our state.”

SFCC Student Glass Club Art Sale Nov. 14-15

SFCC News:

Santa Fe Community College Glass Club art students will sell glass art and functional pieces created by the SFCC Glass Club 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 14 and Thursday, Nov. 15.

The students created the work by using a variety of methods, from kiln casting to fusing and slumping. Works include vibrant color and luminescent glass, whimsical sculptures and functional glassware in a wide range of patterns.

This is a free event in the Main Hallway, 6401 Richards Ave., on the SFCC campus.
