ESPANOLA—The Venture Acceleration Fund (VAF) is accepting applications for the 2014 calendar year, due March 21.

Selected companies will receive awards of up to $100,000 to assist in taking their innovations to market more quickly. Arts in Public Places Board to Discuss Native American Pots for N.M. 4 Corridor

The Los Alamos County Arts in Public Places Board  will meet at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Tewa Center in San Ildefonso Pueblo.

E-Cigarettes Bill Passes SPAC

SANTA FE—House Bill 15, which prohibits the sale of e-cigarettes to minors, has passed the Senate Public Affairs Committee (SPAC) and now heads to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Senate Majority Whip, Tim Keller, D-Bernalillo and Rep. Paul Bandy, R-San Juan are co-sponsors of the bill.

“This bipartisan bill is important because we want to avoid the chance of minors acquiring e-cigarettes under the mistaken belief that they are a ‘safer’ alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes,” Keller said.
