LAPD Holds Active Shooter Training: ‘Run, Hide, Fight’

Los Alamos Police Officers  Sgt. Chris Ross, left, Cpl. Jack Casias and Sgt. Daniel Roberts teach an Active Shooter class today at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building. The instructors taught to the phrase ‘Run, Hide, Fight’, telling people to run if they can, hide if they are stuck, and if the shooter finds you, then fight with whatever you can from hot coffee to sharp pencils. Retired U. S. Army command sergeant major and current Santa Fe Sheriff’s Deputy Martin Arellano has announced his candidacy for Sandoval County Sheriff. Current Sheriff Douglas Wood is in his second four-year term and will not be eligible for reelection in June 2018.

A resident of Rio Rancho, Arellano says since his childhood he has had two ambitions in life.

Relay For Life Planning Team Meets Tuesday

RELAY FOR LIFE News:

The Relay for Life Los Alamos Planning Team is looking for additional members. Volunteers are needed for the American Cancer Society event scheduled this year for September.

The next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 in the downstairs conference room at Los Alamos Medical Center near the cafeteria entrance.

Volunteers can give as much or as little time as they would like. All kinds of help is needed, including recruiting volunteers, recruiting sponsors and selling luminaria bags.
