The Los Alamos Daily Post continues its series of video-taped conversations with candidates running for office in the 2012 election cycle.

Los Alamos County Council candidates Republican Steven Girrens and Democrat Kristin Henderson are featured in this video discussing the issues in a conversational format conducted this Monday at the Los Alamos Daily Post headquarters in the Small Business Development Center in downtown Los Alamos.

Breaking News: Car Fire Near White Rock Y Blocks Traffic Earlier [Photos / Video]

At approximately 2:50 p.m. today,  Los Alamos Fire Department personnel responded to a vehicle fire near the White Rock Y close to the westbound-to-White Rock underpass. Video from the scene exclusive to the Los alamos Daily Post may be viewed below.

The dramatic rescue of the sole occupant, a 62-year-old man in the car, occurred prior to the car engine compartment bursting into flames, according to radio reports from the scene.

Firefighters Douse Small Brush and Debris Fire

At approximately 6:25 p.m. this evening, firefighters responded to a small brush fire behind the apartments at 3100 Trinity Dr., west of the Reel Deal Theater. Pine needles, a rug, notepaper and other debris were found burning at the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Pajarito Mountain Snowmaking to be Limited

Snowmaking will be limited at Pajarito Mountain this season as last year’s water collection proved lack-luster with disappointing snowfall totals and low water density in the snowpack, said Pajarito Mountain’s Clay Paris.
