LANL Researcher Named as American Chemical Society Fellow

LANL News:

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) scientist Kristin Omberg was named as an American Chemical Society (ACS) Fellow for her contributions to national security as a “technical leader in detecting and mitigating biological threats” and to the ACS community.

Omberg is the acting division leader of the Decision Applications Division and the Laboratory’s project leader for the Department of Homeland Security’s BioWatch Program.

Los Alamos County Launches Sunshine Webpage

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has added a new “Sunshine” webpage to its County website.

The new feature can be accessed by clicking on the sun icon on the County’s home page.

The Sunshine webpage addition is another step toward the County’s goal to build citizen trust by being open and transparent.

The new webpage makes more government documents available on-line and offers a more direct way to navigate to key documents that are already offered on the website.

FREE TO ALL! The Los Alamos Opera Guild (LAOG) The Guilds of The Santa Fe Opera, Inc. and Bandelier National Monument will co-host OPERA AT BANDELIER.

National Park Service to Host Two Public Meetings

The National Park Service (NPS) has initiated a process to complete a Transportation Plan/Environmental Assessment (plan/EA) to improve transportation conditions in Bandelier National Monument.
 
In an effort to inform the public and solicit input regarding the plan/EA, NPS will be hosting two public meetings.
 
The format of the public meetings will include a brief (30-minute) open house followed by a presentation about the project and a question/answer session.

Energy Manager Monica Witt of Utilities & Institutional Facilities at Los Alamos National Laboratory will present a talk on “Federal Sustainability Requirements and LANL” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 in the upstairs meeting rooms at Mesa Public Library.

Los Alamos Golf Course Community Building Construction Begins Tuesday

COUNTY News:

The start of construction for the Golf Course Community Building begins Tuesday, Sept. 4.  

Contractor Gerald Martin will be fencing off the southern half of the parking lot.

Patrons to the golf course will be allowed to park in a single row of angled spaces in the main lot and in the overflow parking lot on the west side of the driving range.  

There is existing signage directing traffic to the overflow parking lot. The contractor will be using a portion of the overflow parking lot as a staging area for their equipment.
