Thursday’s CIP Evaluation & Oversight Meeting Canceled

COUNTY News:

The CIP Evaluation and Oversight Committee will not meet Thursday, Aug. 16.

Instead, the committee will take a private tour on Friday afternoon of the new Municipal Complex under construction on Central Avenue.

The committee plans to meet at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 with County Administrator Harry Burgess in a special committee meeting in Council Chambers.

This will be the only agenda item for the meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Fish seasoning:

  • Equal parts of — No Salt Cajun Seasoning
  • Onion Powder
  • Garlic Powder
  • — 1/2 part of Mesquite seasoning
  • Salmon Filets with skin on
  • Spray butter
  • Seasoning (above)

** If you need to freeze the uncooked fish filets, put them in a plastic zip bag and put in a little water and a tablespoon or two of lemon juice. Zip the bag with all of the air out and do not freeze for more than one month.

Police Halt Jail Fight This Morning

LAPD News:

A fight between inmates broke out this morning at the Los Alamos County Detention Center.

Police officers stepped in and stopped the fight quickly.

Los Alamos Fire Department EMTs were called to the scene and are transporting this 24-year-old inmate to the Los Alamos Medical Center as a precaution.

Medic 3 considers this a non-emergency transport.

The cause of the fight is not readily known.

The Valles Caldera Deserves a Rim Trail

The Valles Caldera deserves a trail around its rim. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 in Fuller Lodge, Historian Dorothy Hoard will tell of her 12-year still unfinished odyssey to make the dream a reality.

The resurgent dome of the Valles Caldera is, geologically speaking, very young. Its structure is largely intact. 

It is also a small caldera, a mere 13 to 15 miles in diameter, so it is easy the see its bowl-shape depression atop a mountain.
