UNM-LA Community Education Offers Unique New Classes

This fall, the UNM-Los Alamos Community Education department kicks off the semester with an interesting set of new course offerings and ambitious plans for expanding the program even more in following semesters.

More than 20 new topics have been added to the schedule of classes, which includes new areas of focus such as:

  • “Local History and Culture”
  • “Contemporary Arts”
  • “Native American Culture”

Dance Arts Los Alamos Hosts Dancer’s Resale and Open House; Announces Fall Classes

DALA News:

Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) will kick off its 2012-2013 year with the Dancer’s Resale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the White Rock Studios at 111 Longview Dr. in White Rock. 

An Open House will be held noon to 4 p.m. for families new to DALA, or anyone who has questions about classes or needs assistance with the registration process.

DALA has expanded its class offerings again this year and is offering more than 45 classes at its three studios located in both Los Alamos and White Rock.

Betty the bullfrog charmed members of the Rotary Club of Los Alamos so much that the Club has adopted the portly beauty for an entire year beginning Nov. 1. Betty lives at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and is big and round, with a dark colored back and a creamy colored belly.  U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., will co-host the 57th Annual New Mexico Water Conference Aug. 28 in Las Cruces.
 
The daylong event, also co-hosted by New Mexico State University President Barbara Couture, will take place at the Corbett Center on the NMSU campus.
