Local Community of Atheists Hosts Talk Wednesday

The Los Alamos Community of Atheists will host a public discussion meeting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday May 23 at Mesa Public Library in Meeting Room #1.
 
The title of the discussion is, “Challenges to Memetic Progress in an Age of Insecurity.”

The discussion includes:

  • A brief overview of Memetics, and an explanation of classical religions as faith based Memeplexes,
  • Advantages and disadvantages of classical religious structures in the current environment,
  • A discussion of some of the pros and cons of faith basing, and alternatives, and

State’s Chief Medical Officer Abruptly Resigns

The Los Alamos Daily Post contacted Erin J. Bouquin, MD of Los Alamos after learning that she suddenly resigned her new position as Chief Medical Officer of the New Mexico Department of Health under what appear to be curious circumstances.

Bouquin worked for Cabinet Secretary Catherine Torres who last Monday asked her to do an interview with KOAT Channel 7 for a story on teens engaging in unprotected sex, she said.

Bouquin taped the interview Wednesday morning in Albuquerque.

“It was about sexually transmitted diseases being on the rise among teens in New Mexico,” Bouquin said. Read More
