Local Doctor Arrested on Multiple Charges

Police arrested Dr. Pavel V. Mourachov of Los Alamos Wednesday evening and charged him with assault on a peace officer, DWI and resisting/evading/obstructing officers during his arrest.

A call from a family member came into police dispatch at 7:35 p.m. reporting that Mourachov, 40, may be suicidal.

The dispatch operator advised Corporal Adam R. Jung and Ofc. Robert Stephens that Mourachov, a urologist at Los Alamos Medical Center, had made statements that he was suicidal and was willing to commit “suicide by cop.”

County Attorney Search Narrows to Three Applicants

Three candidates have made the short list out of a pool of 16 applicants for the Los Alamos County Attorney position.

Rebecca Whismer Ehler of Alamogordo, Harry Sinclair Connelly of Las Cruces and internal candidate Charles Brian James are scheduled for interviews April 13 in Los Alamos.

James graduated from the Golden Gate University School of Law and has 32 years of legal experience. He has served as acting county attorney for about a year.

Tonight’s T-Board Meeting is Cancelled

Tonight’s Transportation Board meeting has been cancelled.

The Board will hold its next regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. May 3, at the Los Alamos County Public Works Conference Room, 2101 Trinity Dr., Suite A2.

Public Invited to Chapter 16 Q&A Session

Residents and business owners in Los Alamos and White Rock are encouraged to attend an informal Q&A session with Acting Community Development Director Steve Brugger at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 12 in Council Chambers at 20th Street and Central Avenue.

The Q&A session is regarding proposed changes to Chapter 16 of the County Code.

Chapter 16 is more commonly known as the County’s Development Code.

Suggested changes include implementation of a Special Plan District.
