SANTA FE New Mexico Historic Sites is hosting two major commemorative events in August.
 
The 16th annual Pueblo Independence Day celebration is Sunday, Aug. 11, in the village of Jemez Springs. The event commemorates the events of Aug. 10, 1680, when the Pueblo People of New Mexico and Arizona launched a successful rebellion against Spanish colonization.

Terry and his wife, Robin, along with their 3 kids, have been Los Alamos residents for just over 20 years. Terry is currently the Chair of the Los Alamos County Personnel Board and the Chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
 
Growing up, Terry had the opportunity to live in several states and Puerto Rico. Moving every 2-3 years, Terry attended 12 schools before graduating High School.

After historic snowstorms and flooding in local Navajo communities that occurred in February, U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), along with U.S. Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján, and U.S. Representatives Deb Haaland and Xochitl Torres-Small, lauded the decision to grant the request for a Major Disaster Declaration for the Navajo Nation.

I had the honor of being part of a small group of dedicated people who put together the first-ever Los Alamos celebration of Pride. For the first time in Los Alamos history, this community was given an opportunity to stand up and tell our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer + (LGBTQ+) family members, friends, coworkers and neighbors; “We see you! Final Update Tonight On Fire In Los Alamos Canyon

Los Alamos Firefighters made good progress by sundown today on the fire in Los Alamos Canyon.
 
Firefighters are mopping up and will be monitoring throughout the night the area where an approximately 3-acre fire ignited about 4:30 p.m. today near the Canyon Rim Trailhead east of N.M. 502 and across from the Co+op Market and Holiday Inn Express.

Coach Robbie Harris goes over the line-up and game strategies before the Los Alamos Hilltoppers take to the field to play the Moriarty Pintos in Moriarty this past Tuesday. On paper the two teams seemed to by evenly matched, but as the game progressed that was not the case.  The Toppers scored 4 runs in the first inning and kept slugging away to the 5th inning when the game was called by the mercy rule at 18-3.
