Rose Chocolatier is hosting a reception Friday night for local artist, Don Cavness. Cavness paints abstracts and landscapes with palette knife and oils, intertwining color, movement, texture, creating a three-dimensional sense.
 
The show opens at 5 p.m. and Don will be on hand to talk about his works. Please stop in and see the show and meet the artist.
 
Cavness has painted with palette knife for more than 40 years, having studied with major artists Sylvia Gormley, Ramon Kelley, Dean Howell, and Helene Pfeffer.

BLM Seeks Comments On Analysis Of Northern New Mexico Oil And Gas Lease Parcels

SANTA FE  The Bureau of Land Management is seeking input on the analysis of 26 parcels in northern New Mexico for the March 2018 competitive oil and gas lease sale. The parcels are located in Rio Arriba, Sandoval, and San Juan counties.
 
The draft environmental assessment analyzes a range of alternatives for the sale, and is available for review at https://www.blm.gov/programs/energy-and-minerals/oil-and-gas/leasing/regional-lease-sales/new-mexico. Comments will be accepted through Oct. 20.

Palmer Fire On Pecos Ranger District To Be Managed For Resource Benefit

SANTA FE  Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) plan to manage the lightning-caused Palmer Fire on Rowe Mesa by using low-intensity fire on the ground to achieve multiple resource benefits, including reducing the risk of future high-severity wildfire and improving range and wildlife habitat.
