IRS Waives Diesel Fuel Penalty Due To Harvey

PHOENIX  The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), in response to shortages of undyed diesel fuel caused by Hurricane Harvey, will not impose a penalty when dyed diesel fuel is sold for use or used on the highway.
 
This relief applies beginning Aug. 25, 2017, in the areas and counties for which the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued waivers for Texas Low Emission Diesel Fuel. State Police Investigating Taos Police Department Officer-Involved Shooting

TAOS, NM  The New Mexico State Police is investigating a shooting by a Taos Police Department officer. The shooting occurred Aug. 28 around 2:30 p.m. at the Fred Baca Park located at the intersection of Camino Del Medio and Fred Baca Park Road in Taos. 
 
Taos Police Department (TPD) had been called to the park to assist officers with the New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole Office (APPO). APPO officers had recognized inside a vehicle (a teal Saturn passenger car) at the park an absconder who had a felony warrant for his arrest.

FBI: Navajo Man From Bloomfield Sentenced To Prison For Involuntary Manslaughter Conviction

ALBUQUERQUE  Thomas J. Yazzie, Jr., 52, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation from Bloomfield, was sentenced Aug. 29 in Federal Court in Albuquerque, to 30 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release for his conviction on an involuntary manslaughter charge.
 
Yazzie was arrested Feb. 7, 2017, on an indictment charging him with involuntary manslaughter. According to the indictment, Yazzie killed a man while driving under the influence of alcohol on the Navajo Indian Reservation in San Juan County, May 10, 2016.
