SANTA FE ― A few days after his new book comes out, Santa Fe artist Paul Pletka will give a lecture 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at the New Mexico History Museum auditorium.

The lecture entitled Converging Rituals of Faith in the New World will be followed by a discussion with curator Andrew Connors of the Albuquerque Museum. Following the discussion, Pletka will sign copies of his book, Paul Pletka: Imagined Wests by Amy Scott (Author) James K. Ballinger (Foreword), Paul Pletka (Contributor).

Udall Staff To Host Information Session For Students Interested In Attending A Military Service Academy

U.S. SENATE News:

U.S. Sen. Tom Udal staff are hosting an information session 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 at University of New Mexico Student Union Building – Ballroom C, for high school students and recent graduates interested in applying to the U.S. military service academies.

Representatives from Udall’s office, the New Mexico congressional delegation and the military service academies will be available to field questions from prospective applicants and parents. Udall is accepting applications for nominations to enter an academy in the fall of 2018.

ALBUQUERQUE ― Americans for Prosperity-New Mexico (AFP-NM) is launching a campaign to educate citizens about a job-killing ballot measure, related to mandatory paid sick leave, that will be decided on Oct. 3.

The so-called Healthy Workforce Ordinance was drafted without public input and, if passed, would forcefully inject burdensome government bureaucracy into the day-to-day decisions small business owners face, putting thousands of jobs in jeopardy.
