The Art in Public Places Board (APPB) is seeking valuable community input on the semi-finalists for a new security gate art installation at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. New Library Website To Launch: ‘We Are Hitting Refresh!’

The Los Alamos Public Library announces the launch of a new website March 18. The library web address remains the same, losalamoslibrary.org. Users with a bookmarked library URL will automatically be redirected to the new site.

Santa Fe National Forest Rescinds Medio Fire Closure Order And Reopens Access To Popular Trails

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) rescinded the Medio Fire closure order, effective 8 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2025.

The closure area included all Forest Service lands, roads, and trails within an area that is roughly defined by Rio Nambe Trail #160 on the north, Borrego Trail #150 and Forest Road 412 on the east, Forest Road 102 on the south, and back up the forest boundary line on the west to meet Rio Nambe Trail #160.

Worlds Largest Chimpanzee Sanctuary Welcomes Ten Chimps From Alamogordo Primate Facility

Chimp Haven, the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary, has welcomed ten chimpanzees from the Alamogordo Primate Facility (APF) in New Mexico, following the National Institutes of Health’s decision in late 2024 to retire the remaining chimps from its site at APF to sanctuary.

A proposed ban on semiautomatic firearms in New Mexico is turning out to be a moving target.

The Senate Judiciary Committee decided late Monday to take time to study a proposed assault weapons ban for the state modeled after an Illinois law that is tied up in the courts.
