ANN ROACH Jan. 6, 2016 
 
Ann Roach, 92, a resident of White Rock, passed away at her home in the presence of her family, Wednesday, January 6, 2016, following a short battle with cancer.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Frances Shepherd; children, Beverly Ann Mattson, Sara Lynn Evans, Pam Mackey; brothers, Bill Shepherd, and John Shepherd.
 
She excelled in homemaking activities, making candy, needle paint sewing, and loved sharing her knowledge. She enjoyed playing cards, enjoyed her friends and family.

Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers traveled to Precision Gymnastics in Albuquerque Nov. 22 for the annual New Mexico Judges Cup meet.
 
Megan Brown had the high score of the day for the Los Alamos team. She took first place all around in the silver younger division with 36.30. Brown also placed first on floor with a 9.05 and tied for first on vault with 9.20.

A recent Washington Post article stated there are 113 guns per 100 people in the USA; the world average is 10 guns per 100.
 
There are 88 people killed by guns every day, two-thirds of which are suicides. What do these data share in common? The fact that guns are so prevalent in the United States is that they are so available someone in a fit of rage, fear, or depression, can find one and use it on impulse!

NNMC Announces Accelerated Business Degree

ESPANOLA  The Dean of Northern’s College of Business Administration, Dr. Lori Baca, announced in late December that a new accelerated associate degree program in Business Administration will be offered at the college starting with the Spring 2016 semester Jan. 19.
 
“This program is structured to be accessible to people who might be working full time and want to advance in their careers by pursuing an advanced degree,” Dr. Baca said.
 
A highlight of the program is that classes are consolidated to one day per week, running 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
