New Mexico ACOs Serve 12,604 Medicare Beneficiaries

HHS News:
 
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced Monday that in 2016, a total of 12,604 Medicare beneficiaries will be served by Medicare Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) in New Mexico.
 
ACOs are groups of doctors and hospitals that join together to develop and execute a plan for a patient’s care and share information, putting the patient at the center of the health care delivery system.
 
The ACOs are paid not based on how many tests or procedures are performed but by the success of the treatment administered. ACOs were created to change the incentives

IRS Offers Video Series On Identity Theft

PHOENIX  In coordination with the state revenue departments and the tax industry, the Internal Revenue Service has released the first in a series of YouTube video tax tips designed to provide people critical information to help protect their tax and financial data.
 
The videos, part of the continuing Security Summit effort combating identity theft and refund fraud, is part of an ongoing effort to educate taxpayers and provide them tools to stay safe online.

Seniors Rally Against TPP Trade Deal

ALBUQUERQUE  Retirees and concerned citizens will join a rally at 6 p.m., today, Jan. 12, at the Federation of Labor in Albuquerque (2300 Buena Vista Dr SE #126) to demonstrate their opposition to the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement. 
 
President Obama is expected to push for passage of the TPP during his State of the Union Address tonight. 
 
Nationally, seniors will hold more than 20 rallies today to draw attention to the fact that the TPP will lock in high prices for prescription drugs.
