Governor Issues Executive Order To Help Ensure Supply Of Propane After Massive Snowstorm

SANTA FE — Gov. Susana Martinez has issued an executive order  to help keep up the supply of propane throughout the state as a result of the massive snowstorm that has impacted communities throughout New Mexico. 
 
The governor’s executive order suspends regulations on the number of hours that propane suppliers may drive in order to expedite its delivery into the state.

Upstart Crows of Santa Fe announces its upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s romance, The Winter’s Tale – a fitting kick-off to the arrival of the Folger Library’s First Folio of Shakespeare’s works at the New Mexico Museum of Art in February.
 
The tale, which combines tragedy and antic comedy, will be performed by 25 young Santa Feans age 11-17 making up two full casts.

In this season of love, I would like to remind everyone that the message of Jesus was to love everyone.
 
We are to love our neighbors, love those who are different, and even to love our enemies. Too many times lately I’ve seen others express hatred for gays in the name of religion, refusing to make them cakes or take their pictures.
 
One of our state congressman is even introducing a law to allow some to hate in the name of religion. I don’t know what religion he is talking about, but I hope it’s not Christianity.

Peace Into the New Year  A day of Meditation with Abhaya Kopka 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan.3 at Carnelian Center in Dixon.
 
We will have a day of guided sitting and walking meditation with lunch and time to rest. The day will finish with a Dharma talk and time to share. Each student will have a one on one meeting with the teacher.
 
We have chairs but you may want to bring a cushion or pad for your chair and/or your feet. If you use zafus and zabutons, we only have a few so if you can, best to bring your own.

Udall Provision Requiring Report On Burn Pits Will Help Advance Care For Veterans Of Iraq And Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Sen. Tom Udall announced that he secured a provision in the “omnibus” appropriations bill signed by the president last week requiring the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to report on the status and findings of its burn pit registry.
 
The registry — which was created by Udall’s Burn Pits Registry Act — is the first step toward providing medical care and research for service members and veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals and fumes from open-air burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan.

During Guadalupe County Correctional Facility’s pod decorating contest, a few inmates approached Warden Horton and donated more than $300 to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
 
Additionally, one inmate artist drew a picture of Lilly Martinez, the victim of Albuquerque’s Road Rage incident, in support of the “Just Breathe” campaign.
