Young Life Los Alamos is holding its annual Golf Tournament Sept. 25, at the Los Alamos Municipal Golf Course.
 
Registration begins at noon followed by a 1 p.m. Shotgun Start. Play is best-ball or scramble format. The day’s activity ends with a catered dinner at North Mesa Park. Golfer’s families are invited to join them for dinner at no additional cost.
 
Proceeds from the Golf Tournament will help area middle school and high school students attend Lost Canyon Camp in northern Arizona

I am sort of confused about all the reports of dog attacks and such suddenly surfacing her in Los Alamos.
 
First of all, we have a wonderful team of animal control officers who take very seriously any report of a dog attack, and they do make owners accountable.

DOE Selects U.C. Berkeley To Lead Consortium For U.S.-China Research Center’s Energy-Water Track

WASHINGTON  The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has selected the University of California, Berkeley to lead a consortium of university, nonprofit, utility, and national laboratory partners in a new technical track under the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center (CERC) that addresses water-related aspects of energy production and use.
 
Once the award is finalized, the U.S. consortium will match or exceed DOE funding of $12.5 million and work with their Chinese counterparts to bolster collaborative efforts to ensure energy, water, and environmental security

Woman Attempts To Rob Bank Of America

The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are looking for a woman who attempted to rob a Bank of America branch Friday, Aug. 14.
 
The suspect is described as a white female, about 45-55 years old, approximately 5’1” to 5’5” tall, and weighing about 175 to 185 pounds.
 
She wore a blue short-sleeved shirt with a white logo on the chest and sunglasses hanging from the collar, a tan fishing hat, jeans, white shoes and black gloves. She carried a bag with a strap over her shoulder.

NMED Proposes Repeal Of 20.2.36 NMAC Sulfur Limits

After review and evaluation, the New Mexico Environment DepartmentAir Quality Bureau proposes to repeal 20.2.36 NMAC, Petroleum RefinerySulfur (Part 36).
 
A public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 18, in Santa Fe. Part 36 was adopted in 1974 and establishes sulfur limits (sulfur recovery standards) and other requirements for existing and new petroleum refineries. 

The rule was identified in the November 2012 Improving Environmental Permitting Report as a rule for potential revision or repeal.

American Legion Post 90 Supports Op Christmas Child

American Legion Post 90 of Los Alamos is supporting Operation Christmas Child, a shoe box ministry of many churches across the United States.
 
The Post is purchasing 50 inflatable soccer balls to go with the ones provided by White Rock Presbyterian Church.
 
Each year Mary Medendorp heads up the effort to collect shoe boxes to be packed with pens, pencils, writing paper, crayolas, water colors, small stuffed animals, dolls and more. The soccer balls will be packed with a pump to bring the ball to life.
