JANET “SUZIE” BOULDEN July 29, 2015
 
Janet “Suzie” Boulden, born March 28, 1947, died peacefully at her home July 29, 2015. Her untimely death was a result of terminal cancer.
 
Suzie was preceded in death by her Father, Hogul; Mother, Juanita; Sisters, Charlene and Sheri; and Grandson, Logan Collins. She is survived by daughters, Tonya Collins of White Rock, NM and Susan Dukat of Larkspur, CO; Stepson Steven Boulden of Carlsbad, NM; and Life Partner, Delbert Pederson of Los Alamos, NM, as well as a large extended family and many loving grandchildren.

For 43 years, retired Los Alamos Public Schools employees have gathered at the NOT back to school breakfast on the first day of Back to School for students and teachers.
 
The event was founded by retired teacher Bill Hudson. It is the event all retired educators eagerly look forward to each August. Retirees from all over the USA make a special effort to attend the event to share memories and talk with friends and visit after their no agenda, no dues, no obligation meeting.

Oak Ridge Protesters Among Winners Of 2015 Nuclear-Free Future Award

TAKOMA PARK, Md.  Sister Megan Rice, the 85-year old nun who in July 2012, along with two colleagues, gained entry to the “Fort Knox” of U.S. nuclear weapons complexes in Oak Ridge, Tenn., is one of the “Laureates” to be honored in Washington, D.C. this fall with a 2015 Nuclear-Free Future Award. 
 
Awards are given for “Resistance,” “Education” and “Solutions.” Each award comes with a $10,000 honorarium. Two additional honorary awards are also given.

Udall On Improving Voter Access For Native Americans

U.S. SENATE News:
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Sen. Tom Udall announced he has joined several senators, including Jon Tester, D-Mont., in introducing legislation to increase voter protections and access to the polls for Native Americans.
 
Many Native Americans live in rural communities and are often forced to travel long distances to the closest polling location. According to the National Congress of American Indians, Native American voter turnout was 17 percent less than non-natives in 2012.

Attorney General To Participate In National Night Out

SANTA FE — New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas will participate in the 32nd Annual National Night Out, hosted by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, state and local law enforcement agencies.
 
The National Night Out is 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Santa Fe Plaza.
 
The National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
