Take an Easy Walk to Learn to ID Wildflower

Join Curator Chick Keller of the Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s (PEEC) Jemez Mountain Herbarium for an easy walk to learn the names of local wildflowers.  

A plant list will be provided so participants can keep track of what they see.  

Meet at PEEC at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26 to carpool or caravan to the trailhead.

UK Soccer Camp Starts Next Week

 
The Family YMCA is hosting the UK Soccer Camp program next week July 30 – Aug 3 at North Mesa Field for youth ages 4-16.
 
The cost for half days (9 a.m. to noon) is $100 and a $160 for full days (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). The full day program is for youth ages 8-16 only.
 
This is a great program for soccer players of all experience levels with a focus on individual skills development and teamwork. Scholarships are available through funding from United Way.

LANL and County Close West Road to Vechicle Traffic

LOS ALAMOS COUNTY News



Because of possible flooding upstream of West Road, LANL and Los Alamos County have decided today that, in the best interest of public safety, beginning Friday, July 20, West Road will be closed to vehicle traffic.


This road closure is expected to extend several weeks until the end of the summer monsoon season.


Residents who live in Western Area will have access to Fairway via Diamond Drive. Access to Pajarito Mountain is unimpeded from Camp May Road off of West Jemez Road (NM 501). Read More

Duane Marr Is Top Predictor

ATOMIC CITY ROAD RUNNERS News

Twenty five runners took advantage of cloudy weather to compete for best time predictions on the one and three mile Turkey Trot pace race courses in Bayo Canyon and on North Mesa Tuesday night.
