Science Education Solutions Awarded $2.6 Million Grant

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District announced Wednesday that Science Education Solutions of Los Alamos will receive a $2.6 million award from the National Science Foundation. 
 
Science Education Solutions, owned by Michelle Hall of Los Alamos, is active in a wide range of programs to help learners of all ages discover and understand the world through science, will use the funding to enhance science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education with high school students.

Valles Caldera Prescribed Burn Continues

VALLES CALDERA TRUST News:

Jemez Springs – The Valles Caldera Trust Tuesday continued a prescribed burn project on 360 acres south of New Mexico Highway 4 near Mile Marker 30. 

The project began with 70 acres burned Monday and will continue through Wednesday. Smoke from the burn periodically drifts across the highway and reduces visibility.

To ensure the safety of the public, fire managers are using pilot cars to escort vehicles through the burn area when conditions warrant.

Motorists may experience short delays when driving through the burn area.

Girl Scout Signup Night at Bradbury Oct. 3

Girls in grades K–12 are invited to a Girl Scout information and signup night 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Bradbury Science Museum.

Girl Scouting in Los Alamos and White Rock is made up of active troops in grades K-6 as well as troops of older girl scouts.

Troops enjoy getting together for field trips, camping, hikes and regular meetings in which girls are encouraged to develop independence and leadership skills.
