AVANGRID Agrees To Eliminate Some $1 Billion In Debt As Part Of Application To Merge With PNM

STATE News:

ALBUQUERQUE — As part of its merger application before the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC), AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR) has agreed to eliminate 100 percent of the approximately $1 billion debt of PNM’s parent company PNM Resources, Inc (PNMR).

That debt will be assumed by AVANGRID, which has already fully funded the merger with $4 billion in additional equity capital.

The reduction in debt at PNM Resources will mean PNM will have stronger credit ratings, lower interest rates and more access to robust funding, that ultimately will benefit fees ratepayers pay.

FBI Alerts New Mexicans Of BEC Scams

FBI News:

The FBI is alerting New Mexico businesses, school districts and government agencies to be on the lookout for business email compromise (BEC) scams, which so far has cost more than $1 million in the state.

A New Mexico county recently lost approximately $500,000 in a BEC fraud, while a small private school system in the state avoided being scammed out of more than $55,000 through quick action by employees.

So far in 2021 (January-June), 29 BEC incidents were reported in New Mexico with a loss of $1,025,317.

County Council Hosts Business Town Hall Tuesday Aug. 3

The Los Alamos County Council invites the community to attend a business town hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave.

The business town hall is focused on how planning and zoning revisions affect economic development in the County.

State Cannabis Control Division Smacks Down Illegal Sales

SANTA FE — The Cannabis Control Division of the Regulation and Licensing Department for the State of New Mexico moved to shutdown illegal cannabis sales Tuesday with a cease-and-desist order against Speak Easy, a Las Cruces business that has been selling cannabis in violation of the Cannabis Regulation Act.
