Letter to the Editor: Why do a few individuals so distrust the citizens of Los Alamos?

Why is a small special interest group afraid of the voters?

The Charter Review Committee in good faith made its best recommendations to the Los Alamos County Council for improvements to the Charter. 

These were intended to clarify, remove ambiguities and to rationalize the processes that had slowly become obsolete over the years. 

Council agreed that the separate recommendations had sufficient merit to warrant sending to the voters for their approval or disapproval.

Chief Judge Barbara Vigil of the First Judicial District Court of New Mexico will hear arguments at 4 p.m. today (May 31) from publicly-funded PRC Candidate Cynthia B. Hall and others concerning whether New Mexico Secretary of State Dianna J. Duran should release matching funds as required by state law.

Committee Favors Naming Trail After Satch Cowan

LOS ALAMOS COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County held a public hearing Tuesday evening regarding a recent citizen petition to name or rename a trail in the Quemazon Trail Complex in the Western Area after deceased local resident and hiking enthusiast Helen “Satch” Cowan.
After hearing public comments, the Committee discussed the request and asked several questions of the petitioners, as well as to County Open Space Specialist Craig Martin, before unanimously voting 6-0 in favor of naming a new trail the “Satch Cowan Trail.”

Free Shuttle Service Transports Visitors to Bandelier

BANDELIER News:

A free shuttle service operated by Atomic City Transit is the only way in which visitors will have access to Bandelier National Monument this summer through November, Park Superintendent Jason Lott said.

Visitors should park in the designated lot at the intersection of N.M. 4 and Rover Boulevard in White Rock.
