Local Teens Heading to World Championships

Los Alamos teens Natalie Smith and Maria Jones are traveling to Wexford, Ireland to compete in the CRN World Open Championships June 2-3. The girls are students at the Belisama Irish Dance, founded in 2006 in Santa Fe and Los Alamos. Smith won the Regional Championships in the under-19 category this spring, and Jones was the 2010 North American Champion in the under-14 category. Both are Craobh Grad dancers, the highest level of dance in the CRN organization. Council Meets Again at 6 p.m. Wednesday

No action was taken tonight. The County Council will its second special Capital Improvement Project meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers at 475 20th Street. At tomorrow’s (May 16) meeting, Council plans to take action on the Phase 2 applications including Ashley Pond Park Improvements, Golf Course Improvements, Ice Rink Cover and Improvements, Nature Center, Teen Center and the White Rock Civic Center or they could also consider any other requests for funding capital projects beyond those listed.
