Summer Video Editing Classes at PAC 8

This summer, PAC 8 is offering 20 sessions of video education classes. Classes will be for students in grades 2- 6 and additional classes will be held for middle school students. The classes are lots of fun – students make music videos, news shows, documentaries, commercials and comedies. This year we’re also offering animation classes.

There are four levels to choose from:

Beginning Classes – basic camera techniques, audio, editing with I Movie, interviewing, studio production.

Intermediate Classes – digital cameras, editing with Final Cut Pro, blue screen, special effects.

Atomic Man Duathlon 2012 Results

The 2012 Atomic Man Duathlon was held on Sunday, April 29th. Pet Pangaea, a sponsor of the 2012 Atomic Man Duathlon, has made race photos available to the public.

Eighty two individuals and nine teams from across New Mexico and as far away as Barboursville, West Virgina, competed in this years running and Bicycling event. The event include a “Fat Man” long course and a “Little Boy” short course.

Top Fat Man male finishers were Mike Rahmer of Tijaras (2:10), James Webster, Albuquerque (2:14) and Todd Rinner (2:20).

Dog Jog 2012 Results

The 2012 Friends of the Shelter Dog Jog was held Saturday, April 28th.  Dog Jog sponsor Pet Pangaea has provided photos and results from this years jog. The 2012 Los Alamos Dog Jog was coordinated by the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club, Mountain Canine Corps, and the Atomic City Roadrunners as a fund raising benefit for the Friends of the Shelter.

Forbes has published its list of the richest counties in the United States.

Los Alamos comes in fourth and four suburbs in Washington, D.C. comprise the other wealthiest counties on the top five list.

The top five:

  2. Falls Church City, Virginia: $114,409
  3. Fairfax County, Virginia: $105,416

Mesa Public Library to Host Display of Historic J. Robert Oppenheimer Photographs

MESA PUBLIC LIBRARY News

The J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial Committee (JROMC) will present an exhibit of historic photos entitled “J. Robert Oppenheimer: Photographs From His Life: 1904 – 1967” at the Mesa Public Library Gallery, 2400 Central Ave. from May 2 to May 30. The public is encouraged to visit the exhibit.

An opening reception will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 3, at the Mesa Public Library Gallery upstairs. Refreshments will be served and members of the JROMC will be on hand to answer questions.

Los Alamos GOP County Quadrennial Convention Set for May 17

GOP News:

Call is hereby made for the 2012 Quadrennial Los Alamos Republican Convention on Thursday, May 2012, at the Los Alamos VFW, 1793 Deacon St., and for a Los Alamos Central Committee meeting to be held at 7 p.m., immediately preceding the Convention.

Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and doors close promptly at 7 p.m.

All registered Republicans are invited to attend.

The Los Alamos County Central Committee Meeting will start at 7 p.m.
