Police Win Money for Special Olympics during Benefit Basketball Game

Los Alamos Police were up 37-29 at half time in today’s exhibition basketball game against Espanola Police but the final score ended at Espanola Police 71, Los Alamos Police 65. The game was played in the gymnasium at Northern New Mexico College in Espanola and raised $288 for Special Olympics. “It was a great game that raised money to benefit a very worthy cause … we had a good crowd and everyone had a good time so it was a very successful event,” said Los Alamos Police Chief Wayne Torpy, adding that next year’s game will be played in Los Alamos. County Concludes Brush and Bulk Item Collection in Townsite

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has concluded its Brush and Bulk Item collection service for the Los Alamos townsite.

Disposal of any material remaining at the curb in the townsite is the responsibility of the home owner.

This weekend, (April 28-29) there is free disposal at the County Eco Station in order to help residents beautify the community and prepare for wildfire season.

Also, a special pickup can be arranged at a charge of $65 per hour by calling 662-8163.
