Scholarship Honors Memory of Jennifer Marie Fleming

A one time award of $1,000 is being offered by the Jennifer Marie Fleming Memorial Scholarship Fund to a graduating senior of LAHS Class of 2012. This scholarship is in memory of Jennifer Marie Fleming, a student at Los Alamos High School from 1985-87. Her enthusiasm for life, her concern for other people, and her desire to promote a drug and alcohol free environment for students are the inspiration for this award. Chamber Business Breakfast to Focus on Broadband Thursday

Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is hosting a business breakfast at 8 a.m. Thursday at UNM-Los Alamos.

The breakfast meeting will focus on the plan to bring community-wide broadband to Los Alamos.

Broadband planners John Jones and Estevan Gonzales will visit with business owners at the event to both show them the plan and also to get input on business needs for the new infrastructure.

The breakfast is free to all businesspeople, Chamber members and prospective Chamber members.

Annual Chimayó Easter Pilgrimage is Underway

Pilgrims making their way to El Santuario de Chimayó were seen Thursday and Friday along the highway to the tiny shrine in Chimayó. They walk from short distances to 100 miles or more during Holy Week leading up the Easter Sunday.

Some carry wooden crosses. According to the Santuario de Chimayó website, tens of thousands of worshipers pass through the doors of the little chapel, built almost 200 years ago on a site that is sacred to many Pueblo Indians and descendants of Spanish settlers.
