Please join the Friends of the Senior Centers (FOSC) for the Feel the Music Dance event 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center. Local band, The High Mesa Players, will perform.
The event is open to the public, so bring friends and family!

Los Alamos County Clerk Extends Deadline For 2024 General Election Sticker Design Contest
The Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office has announced that the deadline for the 2024 General Election Sticker Design Contest has been extended.
The new deadline for students to email their designs to clerks@lacnm.us is by midnight Friday, Sept. 6. The contest is open to all students in grades pre-K through 12. Each design must include ONE of the following phrases: “I Voted” / “I Voted Early” / or “Future Voter”.
The three winning designs—one for each key phrase—will be printed and distributed as official stickers at all Los Alamos County voting locations for the 2024 general election. Read More

Register For Sept. 21 Clean Up Los Alamos Day
The Los Alamos County Public Works Department announced that it will hold its 21st Clean Up Los Alamos Day in conjunction with National Clean Up Day, scheduled for Sept. 21, 2024.
Los Alamos County will join more than 2 million volunteers across 50 states and U.S. territories with the goal of reducing litter and cleaning up local communities, parks, trails, beaches and open spaces.

County Environmental Services Will Close On Labor Day
Los Alamos County Environmental Services will be closed in observance of Labor Day Monday, Sept. 2.
This includes operations at the Eco Station and the Overlook Convenience Center and residential and commercial trash, recycling and yard trimming services.
Residents whose collection day falls on the observed holiday should place their trash and recycling out Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Los Alamos Golf Course Announces Upcoming Closure

Los Alamos County Golf Course announces upcoming changes to its golf course schedule.
The course will be closed Sept. 2 to Sept. 20 in relation to the improvement project work underway.
The Golf Course plans to have a limited re-opening on Sept. 21, so that golfers can get back to enjoying the game.
During the closure, the golf shop will remain open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily to assist patrons with any needs or questions.

Semi-Truck Rollover Closes Eastbound Lane On NM 502
Update: CodeRED has announced that clearing the accident site is expected to take several hours and advises motorists to delay travel or seek alternate routes.
COUNTY News:
A semi-truck rollover this afternoon on N.M. 502 near the Tewa Gas Station at mile marker 10, has led to the closure of the eastbound lane on N.M. 502.
The incident was reported at approximately 1:15 p.m. and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Social Services Division Provides Latest COVID-19 Guidance

Los Alamos County has seen an increase in COVID-19 transmission, according to recent data from BioBot’s wastewater surveillance program. This update arrives as BioBot has notified the County that it will cease providing this free service after Aug. 31.
In response, officials from the Los Alamos County Social Services Division are sharing the latest COVID-19 information from the New Mexico Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) so that individuals can protect themselves.

County To Hold Presentation On Pedestrian Master Plan Update During Transportation Board Meeting Sept. 5
Los Alamos County announces the latest updates to its Pedestrian Master Plan, aimed at boosting safety, infrastructure and accessibility across the Los Alamos Townsite and White Rock Town Center.
The plan now integrates Vision Zero principles and the federal Safe Systems Approach to enhance the road network infrastructure for both communities.
