Council To Consider Best Direction For Bear Proof Roll Carts

Tuesday, Aug. 27, Los Alamos County Council will be given a choice, and the decision will affect the bear-proof roll cart program.
Public Works Director Juan Rael said Council will weigh three options regarding the program:
- Continue to distribute the roll carts upon request;
- Provide a bear-proof cart to every residence in Los Alamos; or
- Hand out roll carts to every residence in the County.

Los Alamos County Clerk Reminds Students To Submit Art For 2024 General Election Sticker Design Contest
The Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office is looking forward to choosing winners for the 2024 General Election Sticker Design Contest and would like to remind students to submit their designs no later than September 2, 2024.
The contest is open to all students in grades pre-K through 12. Each design must include ONE of the following phrases: “I Voted”, “I Voted Early” or “Future Voter”.

Bathtub Row Reconstruction Project Begins Phase 1 Aug. 26
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County Public Works Department, in partnership with Department of Public Utilities and under contract with TLC Plumbing & Utility, will begin work on the Bathtub Row Reconstruction Project.
The project will take place on Bathtub Row from Central Avenue to Peach Street, Peach/Nectar Street to 15th Street and utility improvements along 15th Street.
The project is divided into two phases with Phase 1 to be completed prior to winter. Phase 2 will start after a winter suspension, with a project substantial completion date of August 2025. (See Map Above) Read More

The Los Alamos DWI Planning Council, in observation of the need for more activities that do not involve alcohol for young adults to adults, has launched a survey seeking public input.
The results from this quick, three question survey will help the DWI Planning Council gauge what sober activities would be of the most interest to the community.

Service Interruption Affects Los Alamos County And REDINet Customers

Los Alamos County reports a fiber break has occurred along Canyon Road, just east of Los Alamos High School. A 144-strand cable was cut at this location, causing a potential service interruption for Los Alamos County and REDINet customers west of the location.
County facilities impacted include:

- Health Commons (Public Health Office)
- Los Alamos Golf Course
- Los Alamos Golf Course Maintenance building

‘Beyond The Threshold’ Opens Thursday At Step Up Gallery

Take a step “Beyond the Threshold” with artists Linda Storm and Sandra Duran Wilson in Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library. The artists have created more than 100 inspirational paintings and sculptures designed to ignite the intellect and spur imagination to envision worlds beyond. The show opens Thursday.
