PAC 8 summer media classes start May 30 and openings remain for students aged 9-14.

Students have opportunities to learn videography, editing using Premiere Pro, drone flying with photography and videography, music composition, lighting, special effects, GoPro Video and more. 

Some new classes have been added this year: During ScienceFest on July 8, students will record interviews and events and edit video about ScienceFest. A free lunch for the students will be provided by MainStreet. Also, students in another class will create a documentary on Read More

Camp May Road Traffic Control Continues Through April 20

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County announced today that Highway Supply, LLC will continue to have traffic control operations in place in multiple locations along Camp May Road through April 20 for event activity management.

The road will remain open during the duration of the project; however, traffic will need to be prepared to stop for intermittent flagging operations.

After hitting the brakes on the road improvement project at the intersection of N.M. 4 and East Jemez Road in December due to the winter season, the project is revving up again.

A spokesperson for the contractor on the project, Star Paving, explained that the project’s major point is to improve safety but also to help with traffic flow for commuters to the laboratory.

Developing new bike trails has bounced around Los Alamos County since 2013. Originally, new trails were proposed for Pajarito Mountain, then a possible bike flow trail was floated for one of the area’s canyons and then a whole system including trails, a skills park and a loop for the National Interscholastic Cycling Association was proposed for Pueblo Canyon.

Another view of the incident Wednesday afternoon in which a visiting Grumman Widgeon ran off the runway during take-off and hit a tied-down local aircraft at the Los Alamos County Airport. The incident is being investigated by the FAA and New Mexico State Police. Local pilot Robert Gibson explained that the yellow Widgeon is a twin-engine high wing amphibian (can take-off and land on land or water) produced by Grumman Aircraft in the 1940s and early 1950s. Los Alamos April Gas Rate Updated Under New Ordinance

COUNTY News:

The rate Los Alamos utility customers will pay for April gas usage under the natural gas rate ordinance adopted last week by the Los Alamos County Council has been calculated and released.

While the allowable rate cap was increased under the new ordinance, the April rate remains below the previous cap and below the March natural gas rate.
