PCNM No Longer Providing COVID Testing In Los Alamos
COUNTY News:
Due to the decline in patients, Pathology Consultants of New Mexico (PCNM) will no longer provide COVID-19 testing service in White Rock effective immediately. Officials at Los Alamos County were informed that Monday, Feb. 27 was their last day.
“Over the last month, we have seen a continual decreased volume, on average less than three patients a day,” said PCNM Director of Business Development Patricia Ramirez. “It has been our pleasure to have serviced your community for over a year now. The Los Alamos County Art in Public Places (APP) Board is seeking feedback on a developing project with the Los Alamos Little Theater Performing Arts Center WWII Era Boiler.
Art in Public Places Board has been asked to consider the WWll Era Boiler to be part of the Los Alamos County Art Collection.
The WWII era boiler was used to heat the Performing Arts Center when it was the dining hall during the Manhattan Project. It was originally coal burning; however, in the 1950s it was converted to natural gas. This was inefficient, considering the building was heated by steam. Read More

Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne hosted two town halls this week to update residents on the County’s existing Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and to request feedback on the level of importance for 10 potential projects that would add new assets to the County’s portfolio, such as community broadband or a tween center.

As Los Alamos County prepares the FY2024 budget and a 10-year capital improvement project (CIP) projection, County Manager Steven Lynne stated community input is sought on 10 potential new assets.
During a town hall meeting Tuesday night, Lynne said maintenance of existing facilities is not included in the list of potential CIP projects since it is already designated a higher priority. Los Alamos County has announced that the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for Feb. 22 is canceled.
This meeting is canceld as a reult of the Open House for Short-Term Rentals (STRs) being canceled this week due to the winter storm.

Camp May Road Traffic Control Operations Begin Feb. 21
Los Alamos County has announced that Highway Supply, LLC will have traffic control operations in place in two locations near the top of Camp May Road beginning Feb. 21 through March 7 for movie filming activity management.
The road will remain open during the duration of the project; however, traffic will need to be prepared to stop for intermittent flagging operations.
The operation will start 750 yards before the lower Townsite Lift pullout and continue to the first entrance to the Pajarito Mountain Ski Hill parking lots.
