County: Reporting Citizen Concerns Just Got Easier

The Los Alamos Customer Care Center launched a new app called Los Alamos Now for citizens so they can more easily reach county staff and find county information quickly. Through this app, users can report potholes, ask utility billing questions, get information on parks, pay utility bills and so on.

The Los Alamos Now app is free through the Apple App Store (iOS) and the Google Play Store (Android). Users do not need to create accounts to use it.

Electric Work On Barranca Mesa Begins Thursday

County DPU informs the public that their contractor, Paul Parker Construction Company, will be replacing primary underground electric lines and conduit at the eastern end of Barranca Mesa. County: Tips For Handling Natural Gas Costs

The final public hearing is scheduled for proposed changes to the natural gas rate ordinance by the Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities (DPU).

The proposed changes aren’t typical rate adjustments and they don’t increase the fixed rates adopted last fall. Instead, they include an increase to the variable rate cap, an additional recovery rate component and a compensatory minimum value for the variable portion of the gas rate.

Los Alamos County residents who would like to review the implementation and interpretation of the recently adopted Chapter 18 Nuisance Code are encouraged to submit a letter of interest for appointment consideration to sit on the newly chartered Nuisance Code Implementation Review (NCIR) Task Force.

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has released its annual report for fiscal year 2022 as required by the Los Alamos County Charter.

The report examines performance and financials for all utilities under the DPU, which cover the areas of electric distribution and production, natural gas distribution, water distribution and production, and wastewater collection and treatment. Los Alamos County Council hit the pause button on rolling out the bear-proof roll trash carts County wide during its regular meeting Tuesday night.

In a 4-1 vote, with Councilor Randall Ryti opposed, council agreed to stop County-wide distribution of the bear-proof carts for the year to fully evaluate how the carts that have already been distributed to residences in the North Mesa community perform during this year’s bear season.
