Technical Difficulties Streaming Tonight’s Council Meeting

COUNTY News:

Officials with Los Alamos County indicate that due to technical difficulties, tonight’s County Council meeting at White Rock Fire Station 3, 129 N.M. 4, will not be live streamed on the County’s Legistar website.

The meeting will be televised on PAC 8; the public also is welcome to attend in person or join using this Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82683176848.

The agenda for tonight’s meeting is available on the Legistar website. The County will post a recording of the meeting online later in the week.

Council To Hear Atomic City Transit Study Plan March 14

ACT News:

Atomic City Transit (ACT) has been working with LSC Transportation Consultants to update their five-year service plan.

The first draft of the Short-Range Transit Plan Report has been completed and is now available for public review in the Transit Study section of the ACT website. The report includes an analysis of their current services, and some recommendations proposed by the consultant for improvements.

Community Seed Library Grand Opening March 27

The leadership team for the Los Alamos County Community Services Department (CSD) is continuing its Community Tour 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 17 at Fuller Lodge during the Family Superhero Dessert Dance.

Los Alamos County residents are encouraged to participate in a survey to assess the community’s experience with and perceptions of short-term rentals (STRs), and to gauge the degree of STR regulation that the community will support.

The ban on the County’s use of glyphosate on its properties remains in place.

Los Alamos County Council voted 6-1 to keep the ban, with Councilor Keith Lepsch in opposition, during the regular council meeting Tuesday night.

Lepsch proposed revising the ban, stating his concerns about the weeds that grew in the cracks in the Los Alamos County Airport’s runway, which poses safety risks to planes and helicopters such as Classic Air Medical, which Lepsch works for as a flight nurse.

DPU Encouraging Youth Leadership With Essay Contest

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is conducting an essay contest for high school students as part of an effort organized by Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS). A local student may receive a sponsorship to attend a summer leadership rally in Idaho called the ICUA Youth Rally.
