County Council To Issue Proclamation Honoring Los Alamos Garden Club’s 75th Anniversary Nov. 15

LAGC News:

Los Alamos County Council will be issuing a Proclamation in honor of Los Alamos Garden Club’s (LAGC) 75th Anniversary at the Council Meeting Tuesday, Nov. 15 in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and the Proclamation is expected to be issued around 6:15 p.m.

Joyce Zaugg and Kersti Rock, both past presidents of the club, will be accepting the Proclamation on behalf of LAGC.

Service Suspended For Atomic City Transit Route 3

COUNTY News:

Atomic City Transit (ACT) will suspend Route 3 transit service Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, until further notice. Transit operator vacancies continue to affect operations. 

Los Alamos riders who typically utilize Route 3 are advised to instead use regular service Route 1-Central Avenue. Service to Entrada Drive, Bus Stop # 570 Entrada Dr. and Camino Entrada, and Bus Stop # 571 Entrada and Camino Entrada will be serviced by Route 1.

Los Alamos County Moves From Green To Red On CDC Map

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released today its weekly update to the COVID-19 community level map. The CDC framework designates community levels based on diagnoses and regional hospitalization levels (link). Masks are recommended for everybody in counties at the highest, red, risk level. Masks are recommended for at-risk individuals in counties at the intermediate, yellow, risk level. County Hosts 2nd Site Visit At Golf Course Nov. 17

COUNTY News:

The Community is invited to join Public Works staff and the golf course design team for an in-person site visit of the golf course Thursday, Nov. 17 to review Phase 2 design concepts on the ground and discuss other ideas presented by members of the golfing community for improving the Golf Course.

Those interested in attending are instructed to meet 3 p.m. at the Golf Course Clubhouse Community Room at 4290 Diamond Dr.

Democrats Win Big Locally In 2022 Election

It was a blue wave – at least in Los Alamos – for the 2022 General Election. The Democrats won in every open elected seat.

Jason Wardlow Herrera won the race for Los Alamos County Sheriff with 5,903 votes. His opponent, Libertarian Chris Luchini, received 3,378 votes.

“Thank you to all the voters and Sheriff Joe Granville for his support, the Democratic Party and Chair Cat Ozment and I’m super excited for this new position,” Wardlow Herrera said.

County: Atomic City Transit Service Closed Friday Nov. 11 In Observance Of Veterans Holiday

COUNTY News:

Atomic City Transit (ACT) regular scheduled bus service will not operate Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

Regular Atomic City Transit service will resume Monday, Nov. 14.  

Route 3 and 2 Peak services will remain suspended until further notice due to staffing shortages.

The four Democratic candidates who ran for Los Alamos County Council swept the 2022 General Election to earn seats on the dais.

Tuesday, Los Alamos voters elected Theresa Cull, Suzie Havemann and Melanee Hand and re-elected incumbent Randall Ryti to Council.

Their terms begin Jan. 1, 2023.

County: Curative COVID-19 Testing Closed Until Monday

COUNTY News:

Curative COVID-19 PCR Rapid testing in Los Alamos County is closed today and Friday.

Curative employees indicate that the testing site will reopen Monday, Nov. 14 at the White Rock Town Hall, located at 139 Longview Dr., White Rock

Testing hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
