Council Tentatively Approves LAPD Proposed Budget

Los Alamos County Police Department Chief Dino Sgambellone presents his department’s proposed FY23 budget tonight to council. The proposed budget, which totals $11,069,851, was tentatively approved. There are several budget options that were tentatively approved, too, including $220,000 for two sworn FTEs, $270,000 for a rescue vehicle, $160,000 for vehicle storage for a bomb truck and rescue vehicle.   • $76,000 to double fill library manager for six months;
  • $76,000 for a contract to remove feral cattle;
  • $90,000 for one FTE position fort the aquatic center front desk;
  • $50,000  for permaculture

The Los Alamos County Manager’s proposed FY23 budget, totaling $16,630,944, is tentatively approved during tonight’s council meeting. Council tentatively approved 7-0 the budget, which includes three budget options: $150,000 for an independent job market study, $110,000 to hire a Human Resource Technician, which will be 1 FTE, and $100,000 for a Social Media Coordinator, which also is 1 FTE.
