New Mexico COVID-19 Update Jan. 25: 3,354 New Cases, Totaling 455,947 With 25 Deaths & 333,715 Recovered

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials announced today 3,354 additional COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reported 9 new cases today, bringing the total to 2,161 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 25 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19 and a 7-Day positivity rate of 30.0 percent.
Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 864 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 5 new cases in Catron County

The U.S. Army Patriot Battalion “Team Deuce”, stationed at Fort Bliss will conduct a series of Patriot air and missile defense system exercises in Los Alamos County.
Arriving at 5 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, the entourage of approximately 40 vehicles and 70 soldiers will set up camp at Los Alamos County Airport and the open space adjacent to the North Mesa soccer fields, commonly known as “FEMA-ville”.

FLACL Friends Bookstore Expands Business Hours

The FLACL (Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries) Friends Bookstore has expanded its business hours again. The bookstore is now open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
With continuation of being open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, the bookstore has almost returned to prepandemic operating hours.
The Friends Bookstore still maintains safety protocols with facemask requirements, limited occupancy of no more than four customers at a time and asks that only one reasonably sized bag or box be donated at one time.

County: CDD/DPS Release Chapter 16 Code Update – Module 2 And Announce Public Open House

Progress on Phase 2 of the Los Alamos County Downtown Master Plan and Code Updates Project has reached another milestone.
The Community Development Department (CDD) and its consultant, Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (DPS), released today, Jan. 24, the second of three modules of the Chapter 16 Development Code.

The proposed increases are 2 percent per year for four years, with the first increase taking effect Oct. 1, 2022.
