County Council To Consider Property Tax Rates Sept. 7

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Council will consider property tax rates at its Tuesday, Sept. 7 meeting.

Local property tax rates are calculated by the State’s Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) based on the Assessor’s Office annual valuation report.

In accordance with the Property Tax Code, property tax rates are calculated for all governmental units within the County that have imposed a tax on property.  (The County, Los Alamos Public Schools and UNM-Los Alamos, as well as the state.)

Aquatic Center Rescheduled To Open Monday Sept. 20

To allow pool staff the ability to fully test the new filtration system and prepare the facility for public use, the re-opening of the Larry H. Walkup Aquatic Center has been rescheduled to Monday, Sept. 20 at 2760 Canyon Road.

In early August, the Aquatic Center closed for its annual maintenance activities.

The Los Alamos County Council will hold a closed session 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 in the Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave.

The purpose of the closed session is for council to have a discussion of limited personnel matters regarding goal setting for the county manager.

Recreational spaces are in high demand and the proposed recreation facility that would be shared by Los Alamos County and Los Alamos Public Schools may satisfy that demand.

Los Alamos County Council heard a presentation and offered input on the project during its Tuesday night meeting.

County Customer Care Center Closed Thursday Afternoon

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Customer Care Center, operated by the Department of Public Utilities, will close noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2.

Customer Care representatives will use this time to relocate back to their newly remodeled Customer Care Center in Suite 130 in the Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave.

For the past two months the Customer Care representatives have been working out of Suite 110, the Boards and Commissions room, as extensive remodeling took place in their permanent home in Suite 130.
