New Mexico COVID-19 Update Aug. 27: 958 New Cases, Totaling 229,509 With 9 New Deaths And 201,026 Recovered

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced 958 additional COVID-19 cases today.

Los Alamos County reports 1 new case bringing the total to 613 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 9 new deaths in New Mexico today related to COVID-19.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

  • 175 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 105 new cases in Chaves County
  • 9 new cases in Cibola County
  • 17 new cases in Colfax

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced 933 additional COVID-19 cases today.

Los Alamos County reports 2 new cases bringing the total to 612 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 9 new deaths in New Mexico today related to COVID-19.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

  • 222 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 2 new cases in Catron County

Friday marks the final day on the job for longtime Los Alamos County Public Information Officer Julie Habiger. She is retiring after nearly 21 years on the job.

Final 2021 Summer Concert: Santana Tribute Band Smooth

COMMUNITY News:

Santana tribute band Smooth performs Friday for the final concert of the 2021 Los Alamos Summer Concert Series presented by Toyota of Santa Fe.

The concert is co-sponsored by SMSI and Merrick. Española Latino band Divino will perform at 6:30 p.m.  as the opening band. The Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association will perform as the student opening act and the Family YMCA will conduct pre-concert Zumba dance warm-ups. The fun starts at 5:45 p.m.

Smooth is a Chicano rock band that pays tribute to the godfather of Latin/African Rock, Carlos Santana, as well as other artists in that genre. Read More

Most would agree that the amount of vacant commercial buildings in Los Alamos is a problem but what isn’t so certain is how to resolve this issue.

DPU: Power Outage Reported In White Rock

Update: As of 6 p.m. today

While customers on Aragon, Kilby, Donna and a section of Rover are still without power, DPU’s electric linemen have temporarily restored power as of 5:40 p.m. to customers on Garver, Richard Court and part of Rover. However, crews need to de-energize these same customers for approximately 30 minutes to isolate the issue on the underground system. Power will be rerouted and restored by approximately 8 p.m. to all customers in the affected area.
