Los Alamos Police Now Cross Commissioned As Special Deputies For Santa Fe County … Authorized To Assist/Enforce Traffic/Criminal Laws In Surrounding Area

LAPD News:

Los Alamos Police Department officers have been cross commissioned as Special Deputies for Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza.

LAPD officers now have authority to assist and enforce traffic and criminal laws outside the County of Los Alamos.

LAPD encourages commuters to drive at a safe speed dependent upon the weather in the upcoming months as officers will be enforcing traffic offenses in Los Alamos and neighboring Santa Fe County.

Curative COVID-19 Testing Moving From Fuller Lodge To Overlook Park As Drive-Through Site In White Rock Tuesday

COUNTY News:

Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 26, the Curative COVID-19 testing clinic will move from Fuller Lodge to Overlook Park in White Rock as its permanent drive-through testing site.

Citizens who already scheduled appointments at Fuller Lodge for this coming Tuesday, need only to arrive at their scheduled time at Overlook Park instead.

Signage will direct individuals once they turn east onto Overlook Road.

Curative staff will instruct citizens how to self-administer the test from their car, will collect the sample and send it to the lab for testing. Results will be emailed or sent via text Read More

Anti-Nuke Sign Removed From Entrance To Los Alamos

A plastic anti-nuke sign placed illegally Friday at the entrance to Los Alamos has been removed. The sign was placed on county property without the owner obtaining a permit. Section 16-417, subsection B of the County Municipal Code details penalties for signs placed illegally on public property. ‘Any sign installed or placed on public property, except in conformance with the requirements of this section … shall be forfeited to the public and subject to confiscation. SANTA FE — The Adult Detention Professional Standards Council (ADPSC) awarded a three-year Certificate of Reaccreditation to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility during the 2021 New Mexico Counties Virtual Legislative Conference Jan. 21, 2021.

The detention facility was first accredited in January 2014. The Certificate of Reaccreditation is awarded to those county detention facilities that continue to meet or exceed best practice standards in detention, as developed and approved by the ADPSC.

Second COVID Vaccine Dose For Category 1A Individuals Vaccinated Jan. 2 Is Scheduled For Wednesday Jan. 27

Los Alamos County, in coordination with the New Mexico Department of Health, is scheduling a clinic for the second COVID vaccine doses for those category 1A individuals (healthcare workers and first responders) vaccinated Jan. 2, 2021 in White Rock. 

The new clinic is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27. According to Los Alamos County Emergency Manager Beverley Simpson, those individuals who qualify should have already received information on how to schedule their appointment for the second dose.

Los Alamos residents who completed their vaccine registration profile on the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) website should have received a six digit “confirmation code” via text or email to finish setting up their profile.

At the very beginning when DOH launched its registration site, a glitch in the system resulted in some people not receiving the necessary seven-digit code to complete the final step of registration.

The Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) announced this morning that the senior centers in Los Alamos and White Rock have been notified that they will serve as distribution hubs for the Jan. 30-31 COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic.

Los Alamos County, working in cooperation with the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department, will host a special COVID-19 vaccine clinic Jan. 30-31 at the senior centers in Los Alamos and White Rock.

In order to qualify for this clinic, participants must:
