The idea for a proposed North Mesa Housing project stemmed from the County’s 2019 Housing Market Needs Analysis, which found a need for more than 1,300 rental units and more than 375 houses.

County: Siberian Elm Tree Mitigation Project Begins Nov. 12

Los Alamos County Open Space and Trails with assistance from the Rocky Mountain Youth Corp will be removing highly invasive Siberian elm trees from around Woodland and Dot Grant Trails starting Thursday, Nov. 12.
The elm trees marked with biodegradable blue marking will be removed to help improve the health of the forest and prevent further spread of the Siberian Elm Tree.

Pavement Work On Canyon Road Begins Monday
COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division is scheduled to have crews performing Pavement Preservation along Canyon Road from 15th Street to Diamond Drive Nov. 9 through Dec. 9.
This work will occur 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on days when the weather and temperature are favorable.
A flagging operation will be used, and pedestrian and vehicle traffic are urged to use caution while traveling through the work zone.

Los Alamos County has opened the application period for individuals to apply for Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) funding for childcare assistance and/or virtual learning assistance.
Individuals impacted by COVID-19 since March 1, 2020 who reside in Los Alamos County and meet income qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Schools, Council And Public Weigh In On Proposed North Mesa Housing Project During Special Joint Meeting

The question of whether to pursue a housing project on approximately 30 acres of land on North Mesa remains under consideration.
