COUNTY News:
The Quemazon Fire is contained, but not yet extinguished so the Quemazon Trail remains closed.
Los Alamos Fire Department continues to support U.S. Forest Service crews on that fire today.
Helicopter operations for water runs for the Quemazon Fire have ended and the Los Alamos Reservoir is open.
The Pipeline Fire is extinguished and the Pipeline Trail is open.

Los Alamos County To Enhance Pedestrian And ADA Accessibility Along Trinity Drive From Oppenheimer To 39th
COUNTY News:
Beginning Wednesday, July 29, GM Emulsions will start construction along Trinity Drive from Oppenheimer to 39th Street.
The long-awaited improvements and renovation will provide better accessibility by replacing curb and gutter and installing ADA compliant sidewalks.
To perform this work safely, traffic along Trinity will be shifted around the work zone. Traffic control will include temporary shoulder closures and bicycle and pedestrian detours.
Please note that this schedule may change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions.

Water Line Repaired At 33rd Street Near Aspen School
COUNTY News:
Water crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, repaired the water line on 33 Street near Aspen Elementary School south of Villa Street.
The line is being recharged with water and water pressure should return to normal by 6 p.m. for customers in the area.
Department officials offer the following to customers affected by the water break:
- Water at first may appear murky due to entrained air. This problem will resolve itself in a day or so.
- For a day or two there may be a small amount of sediment or rust in the water that was stirred up from the bottom of the water main. While

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 307 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County has two new cases bringing today’s total to 16 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update announces 10 additional deaths reported in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:
- 60 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 11 new cases in Chaves County
- 4 new cases in Cibola County

Los Alamos County Golf Course Improvements Underway
The new sprinkler system work is well under way on the front nine, which is closed for at least the next two months. The new system is badly needed to replace the aging system and add new features to improve overall performance to the entire irrigation system. Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crews are responding today to a water line break on 33 Street near Aspen Elementary School south of Villa Street.
Customers in the area are experiencing low water pressure.

Crews Continue Efforts To Knock Down Quemazon Fire

Forest Service crews continue working on the Quemazon Fire with LAFD providing assistance.
Individuals are reminded that entrances to the Quemazon Trail and Pipeline Trail continue to be closed for public safety.
The Los Alamos Reservoir is an active part of fire-fighting efforts underway.
Members of the public are asked to refrain from visiting Los Alamos Reservoir, as helicopters are resuming water retrieval activities for fire suppression using water from the reservoir. Read More

Storms Have Passed And Firefighters Resume Operations
COUNTY News:
Due to rain Los Alamos Firefighters temporarily left the scene but the storms have passed so they are back at work on the Quemazon fire.
Access continues to be restricted to Quemazon and Pipeline trails.
A helicopter is conducting water drops on the fire using water from Los Alamos Reservoir. Individuals are asked not to travel to Los Alamos Reservoir, which is an active part of fire operations at this time.
Four Small Fires Burning In Quemazon/Pipeline Trail Area
Smoke from one of four small fires burning in the Quemazon/Pipeline Trail area on Pajarito Mountain is visible at noon today from the Mountain View Condominiums on Trinity Drive. Los Alamos County Fire Chief Troy Hughes explained that the fires are most likely sparked by lightning from an overnight storm. He said the fires are not very large and don’t appear to pose a threat to the Ski Hill or Lodge. More details and photos from the scene will be published shortly.
