Los Alamos County Ice Rink Project Moving Along

Progress being made recently on the Los Alamos County Ice Rink locker rooms. The project includes a new and restroom improvements to the existing building. March 3, the County Council approved a construction contract for $1,430,642 to Contreras Construction and established a total project budget of $1,850,000 – which includes design, contingency, gross receipts tax, special testing, etc. as well as the construction costs. Carbon Free Power Project Meetings July 28, Aug. 3

COUNTY News:

…Carbon Free Power Project is a proposed nuclear electric generation facility that would use small modular reactor technology. 

Two more meetings are scheduled to provide project status updates on the Carbon Free Power Project (CFPP) prior to a decision that will be made by the Board of Public Utilities and the County Council on whether Los Alamos continues on to the next phase of project development. 

A joint Board of Public Utilities and County Council meeting is scheduled for July 28 and a virtual town hall for the community is scheduled for Aug. 3.

Water Line Break At Golf Course Under Repair

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crews responded to a break on a 16-inch water transmission line at the Los Alamos Golf Course near Woodland Trail.

The break was reported this morning at 6 a.m. and affected water tanks that provide drinking water to North and Barranca Mesas.

Some customers in these neighborhoods may have experienced low water pressure.  

Crews isolated the break and water pressure by around 7 or 8 a.m. should have returned to normal.

Repairs to the water line are underway and should be completed before the end of today.

Los Alamos, New Mexico- Currently Atomic City Transit is providing bus service for Route 1, 2M and 2T 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For areas not serviced by a fixed route bus, Atomic City Transit is providing Dial-A-Ride service during the same hours.
